Boutiques like Milwaukee's 'Fred' losing revenue with cool weather
MILWAUKEE - The lack of nice spring weather has led to a lack of spring sales for some local boutiques.
The owner of Fred, a boutique in downtown Milwaukee, told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Michelle Richards that sales of spring merchandise were drastically down compared to a normal spring.
"This weather, we're behind in sales, probably about eight weeks," said Kotti Anderson.
She explained that Fred is known for its dresses, and since the weather hasn't been conducive to wearing dresses, people haven't been buying them like they usually would this time of year.
The shop is running several specials and pushing social media in an effort to attract customers.
However, Anderson says what they really need is "sunshine and 60 degrees."
She just may get her wish this weekend.
