MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee Police officer was hospitalized after his squad car was involved in a crash Tuesday morning.

It happened at 7:50 a.m. near the corner of North 35th Street and West Capitol Drive.

Spokesman Mark Stanmeyer tells Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Michelle Richards that the squad car was going south on 35th when another car ran a red light going west on Capitol.

That other car hit the squad car.

A 25-year-old woman from Milwaukee was driving the other car.  Police cited her.  She refused medical attention.

The officer was treated for his injuries at the hospital and released.

Photographs from a TODAY'S TMJ4 photojournalist show the squad car's front end damaged, along with another car with damage to its front right end.
