Man shot by Waukesha Police now alert and talking
WAUKESHA - A 44-year old man is now conscious after being shot by Waukesha Police officers Sunday night.
According to the police department, they received a call just before 2 a.m. on Sunday reporting a suicidal subject. The man was allegedly holding an elderly couple hostage with two knives. The woman managed to escape.
The suspect then exited the home and reportedly charged police with the knives still in his hands, and they shot at him. He was given medical attention on scene and sent to Froedtert Hospital via Flight for Life.
The three officers involved in the incident are on paid administrative leave.
The suspect underwent surgery, and is now conscious, alert and talking. The police department will be referring a charge of Recklessly Endangering Safety, a Felony.
