Three injured in hit-and-run crash Thursday afternoon in Sheboygan
SHEBOYGAN - Three adults from Sheboygan were injured in a head-on collision around 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened in the 200 block of New Jersey Ave, and all three individuals received medical attention at area hospitals but were released.
The driver of one of the vehicles was taken into custody on suspicion of causing injury while operating under the influence of alcohol.
"The collision occurred in the after one vehicle, a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by a 32 [year-old] man, was observed by witnesses driving left of the center line at a high rate of speed," according to Lt. Scott Mittelstadt with the Sheboygan Police Department. "The second vehicle was westbound in that lane and was struck head-on."
The driver of the first vehicle fled the scene on foot but was located about an hour later at his home. He may also face a hit-and-run charge.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 28-year-old man, and his 19-year-old female passenger were both taken to St. Nicholas Hospital, also for non-life threatening injuries.
