Suspect in custody after chase through downtown Racine
RACINE, Wis. - One man is hospitalized after leading police on a chase through downtown Racine Saturday morning, at times reaching speeds of 50 miles per hour.
It began around 6:30am when a 9-1-1 caller notified police that he saw a woman bleeding and running from a man at the apartment building at 1109 Washington Avenue.
Officers caught up with the suspect and at 17th and Morton where the suspect allegedly rammed a squad car, then kept going, striking another vehicle at 14th and Racine.
The suspect was reportedly transfered for treatment of injuries from the crash to St. Mary's Hospital.
The driver of the vehicle hit at 14th and Racine was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for minor injuires.
The officer struck at 17th and Morton was not injured. And, the woman injured outside the apartments at 1109 Washington Avenue reporteldy has minor injuries.
