Real Chili Marquette location makes finals of Cooking Channel contest

MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee landmark food staple has made the finals of a national college-oriented restaurant contest against a locale in Texas

Real Chili, on the Marquette University campus, is batlting an eatery from Baylor University in the "Best College Eats" contest.

The restaurant's chili-topped spaghetti entry has already beaten restaurants near Fordham,  Kansas and Kentucky.

Real Chili toppled Ho Burgers and Tots, based in Lexington, Kentucky, in the semifinals.  It faes Vitek's BBQ in the finals.

As of 7:20 a.m., Real Chili led Vitek's BBQ by about three percentage points.  Voting ends at 4:00 p.m. Friday.

Speaking of the Cooknig Channel semifinal round opponent, Marquette has a history of beating Kentucky in the real NCAA tournament, including wins in 1969, 1994, 2003 (see video below) and 2008.
