Former Milwaukee Co. Parks director Sue Black becomes owner of Milwaukee Wave
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Wave have announced that team president Sue Black has purchased the team and will be the team's owner as well as President and CEO. She will also be in charge of the the charitable arm of the team, The Milwaukee Wave of Hope.
Black previously replaced acting President and CEO Jim Lindenberg in that role back in February.
"“This team is all about positive energy. The Wave is entwined in Wisconsin and has a tradition of making such an impact in so many facets. The real passion is that I will be able to give back to the community that I love," said Black in a statement Wednesday.
"Obviously something like this doesnt happen overnight, we've been at it for a while," Black told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's John Mercure and Erik Bilstad. "I was surprised it didn't come out before then. The response has been overwhelming. The best part is being with the team, all the players today."
“It was very easy to complete the transaction with President/CEO Sue Black and the United Soccer League," said Lindenberg.
"I can’t think of anyone better to continue to lead this very proud and successful franchise. Sue has many connections in Wisconsin, is a very hard worker, and has a very successful track record. The future of the Milwaukee Wave looks promising.”
Black was the Milwaukee County Director of Parks from 2004-2012. She was also the Director of the Wisconsin State Parks system from 1997-2003.
