Vigil for missing Marquette alum held for Friday
MILWAUKEE - A vigil for a missing Marquette alum is planned for Friday, April 5.
James Foley was captured in Syria in November of 2012. His parents, along with the Marquette community, will gather in the Chapel of the Holy Family to pray for his safe return. The chapel is located inside the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave.
"The Marquette community will be joined by Foley’s parents, Diane and John Foley, to appeal for the safety and release of their son during the vigil," said the school. "Foley, Arts ’96, was working as a freelance journalist in northwest Syria for GlobalPost reporting on the civil war in the country. His whereabouts are currently unknown."
This is the second time Foley has been held captive overseas since 2011.
