Storm Team 4
Major warmup coming to Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE - Wednesday will be a carbon copy of Tuesday as far as weather in Milwaukee with plenty of sunshine and seasonably cool temperatures.
High temperatures will rise into the low-40s again, but the wind will slowly turn to the south late in the day and tonight and that means a warm-up for Thursday. Roller coaster temperatures roll into next week.
As I look at the Storm Team Four weather calendar for April I am amazed at how many daily records mark the first two weeks of the month, but how very few records are found during the last two weeks.
The first two weeks of April in Wisconsin represent the real transition from winter to spring, and so it is loaded with extreme weather from heat to cold and from severe thunderstorms to winter storms. I wrote about the Brookfield tornado from April 2nd of 1977 yesterday, and on the 4th is the anniversary of the West bend Tornado of 1981.
On April 10, 2011 back a record fifteen tornadoes struck the state, and on the 11th in 1965 the Palm Sunday Outbreak hit southern Wisconsin.
Large snowstorms hit Milwaukee on the 2nd in 1975, the 5th in 1982, the 11th in 2007 and the biggest of all, fifteen inches from the 8th through the 12th back in 1973.
