Woman rescued from Kinnickinnic River early Friday morning

MILWAUKEE - A woman was rescued fro the Kinnickinnic River by Milwaukee County deputies early Friday morning.

According to the Milwaukee County sheriff’s department, they received a call just before 3 a.m. Friday that a person was in the river near 1st and Becher Streets.

"Deputy Roberto Hernandez took an extension cord from his squad and threw it down to the subject, who was able to grab the cord, and he pulled her to the wall, holding onto her arm to keep her head out of the water," said Fran McLaughlin with the sheriff's office. "Deputies Larrel Lirette and Nicholas D’Addario arrived on the scene at 3:04 a.m. and the three deputies were able to pull the woman out of the water."

The 23-year-old woman was reporteldy conscious, but intoxicated and unresponsive. She was taken to the hospital.
