Man arrested for OWI after driving the wrong way down I-794
MILWAUKEE - A 48-year-old man was arrested early Friday morning after driving the wrong day down I-794 while allegedly drunk.
According to Fran McLaughlin with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office, multiple dispatch calls were reporting the driver traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on the interstate just before 2:00 a.m.
A deputy pulled over the car, and Donald A. McGuire was arrested for 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and cited for his first OWI after the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol. According to McLaughlin, McGuire refused to perform any field sobriety tests.
"The deputy viewed video footage of the wrong-way driver and was able to identify the vehicle as the one operated by McGuire," McLaughlin said.
If convicted, McGuire faces up to 10 years in prison.
