Shooting, attempted robbery in West Allis

WEST ALLIS - Police say that someone went into a home and shot someone while trying to rob people who live in the home.

The shooting happened at about 4:00 a.m. Thursday morning at a home near the corner of South 59th Street and West Greenfield Avenue.

According to police, an African-American man with a handgun forced himself into the home.  He went to the people in several bedrooms and demanded cash and guns.

When he went into one of the rooms, someone inside that bedroom got into a fight with the suspect.

The suspect then allegedly shot the victim in the arm.  He then fled the home.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital.

Authorities describe the suspect as "tall," "older than a teenager," with a black winter hat and black sweatshirt.
