MILWAUKEE - The Brewers have signed Yuniesky Betancourt, ESPN reports.

"The Milwaukee Brewers have signed infielder Yuniesky Betancourt to a one-year deal, his agent, Alex Esteban, told ESPN.com," said the channel.

According to NBC News, Betancourt opted out of his contract with the Phillies on March 24.

"Betancourt, 31, was the Brewers' starting shortstop in 2011 before spending last season with Kansas City," said ESPN. "Milwaukee has been looking for infield depth, particularly a veteran who could back up rookie shortstop Jean Segura."
