Three men sent to hospital after alleged drunk driving crash on I-43

DARIEN - Three men are in the hospital after an alleged drunk driving crash Sunday night in Walworth County.

According to Captain Scott McClory with the Walworth County Sheriff's Department, Ricardo Orlando Villalobos, 25, was driving on I-43 near Hwy 14 in Darien, just before 10 p.m., when he slid off the icy road while attempting to take the exit.

"The truck went down the embankment, striking a tree, and partially ejecting Villalobos," said McClory. "Also severely injured in the crash were passengers Isidro Angel Santana-Ruiz, age 21, and Eddie Christian Santana, age 22."

All three men in the truck are from Beloit.

Santana-Ruiz was flown to a Milwaukee area hospital with multiple broken bones to the arm and hand and facial injuries. Santana was taken by ambulance to a Milwaukee area hospital with a broken neck, broken back, and facial injuries. Villalobos was flown to a Madison area hospital with a broken ankle, broken pelvis, and head injuries.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office said they will be referring charges to the District Attorney’s Office for possible charges of Operating While Intoxicated, two counts of Operating While Intoxicated causing Great Bodily Harm, Operating While Suspended, Open Intoxicants in Motor Vehicle, and Operating Without Insurance.
