Blowing wind causes dangerous road conditions on Tuesday
SHEBOYGAN - High winds Tuesday made it dangerous on the roads. The wind was so strong, it was blowing snow and causing multiple crashes on the roads.
One woman was flown to Froedtert hospital after she rolled her car in Sheboygan county. Drivers said they were keeping a tight grip on the wheel so it wouldn't happen to them, too.
A 32-year-old woman lost control of her SUV on a snow-covered Highway 57 in Sheboygan county Tuesday, and rolled over. She was ejected onto the oncoming lanes.
"I took Blueberrry coming in because I heard about it," said Mike Anderson, a driver.
Anderson changed his route to try to get around the crash, but what he saw on the ground said it all.
"If you get past Plymouth to Highway A on 57, it's solid ice," he said.
"This is blowing really bad," said semi driver Tim Danison.
Danison logs 11 hours a day driving his big rig. He's seen his fair share of wicked weather, but even he says this wind is pretty wild.
"The snow is blowing right aross the road, like a whiteout almost," he said.
And drivers said "slow in the snow" -- is the way they go.
"I just go slower," Danison added. "Get in the right lane with my blinkers on and go slower."
"You just have to go slow and take your time and you'll be fine," Andersin said.
As for the woman who was flown to the hospital, authorities won't release her name at this time or tell us her condition. There were two children in the car with her. Thankfully, they weren't hurt.
