WEST ALLIS - Bars in West Allis are banding together to fight drunk driving this St. Patrick's Day.

More than a dozen bars like Remedy have joined together to let their customers drink responsibly.

"It's fun," Carey Quartana says. "This is my first time doing it."

Carey's designated ride this St. Patrick's Day is a big, green bus. She's taking advantage of a free shuttle service that's been organized by more than a dozen bars to prevent their patrons from driving drunk.

"All the bars divide up the tab for the rentals of the bus," Remedy owner Erwin Magritz says.

Erwin says the shuttle service is back for the second straight year because his customers told him they wanted to celebrate safely.

"They can drink on the bus, they can smoke on the bus but they're not in their car drinking," Magritz says.

Not having to find a ride make Quartana feel better. But, that doesn't mean she's going overboard.

"I'm drinking my water and I'm monitoring my drinks, because even though I,m not driving, I dont want to do anything crazy," Quartana says.

The owners of these 14 bars tell TODAY'S TMJ4 the bus rides will not stop tonight until every customer is home safely.
