ELKHORN - A man is heading to prison for 7 years after getting his 10th OWI.

Walworth County Judge John Race sentenced 50-year-old Gary Harrast this past week. The entire sentence includes 7 years in prison, and five years of extended supervision--just six months shy of the maximum sentence possible.

Lake Geneva Regional News reports Harrast was arrested June 11 in the town of Linn while driving back from Kenosha, where he went to see his son's band perform. During the hearing, Harrast told the judge he has never been in a drunken driving crash, which was also written in letters from his family.

Judge Race said with the number of prior convictions that Harrast has he is, "Probably one of the most significant drunken drivers in the state."
