Group upset over drag show at UW campus
MENASHA - A drag show at one UW campus is creating some controversy.
The show is happening at UW Fox Valley Thursday, and student fees are being used to pay for it. The group "Wisconsin Family Action" believes that sort of entertainment has no place on a college campus.
"UW-Fox Valley should be taking a long hard look at what they are encouraging students to be involved in under the guise of diversity,” said Julaine Appling, president of Wisconsin Family Action. “This isn't about diversity, this is about promotion of an agenda."
"We encourage diversity of thought as well as the whole system and it's an educational opportunity for students to see this kind of theater," said the university’s University Relations Director Dave Hager.
Hager says the show doesn't involve any nudity. It's made up of mostly singing, dancing and comedy.
