Italian donor gives UW-Green Bay bust of da Vinci
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- A philanthropist in Italy has donated a quarter-ton bust of Leonardo da Vinci to the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
A WBAY-TV report (http://bit.ly/YeLB1R ) says the donor was aware of the Green Bay school because five groups of students have traveled to Florence, Italy, in the past 10 years.
The white bust shows da Vinci and his long flowing beard.
It was created last year in Italy and shipped to Wisconsin.
It's still in its crate as university officials try to figure out where it will go on campus.
Officials are planning to formally unveil the statue in August.
Sarah Meredith Livingston teaches music at the campus.
She calls the bust "breathtaking" and says she's excited the campus can share it with the community.
