Fatigued truck driver faces prison time for fatal crash
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C.-- A Wisconsin truck driver responsible for a crash that killed five people could spend up to five years in prison for it.
Fifty-year-old Roumen Todorov Velkov of Beloit, Wisconsin, pleaded guilty Friday to five counts of involuntary manslaughter.
A North Carolina state trooper believes Velkev may have dozed off when his rig rammed into a line of stopped traffic in mountainous Henderson County.
Velkev had been headed east on I-26 when the crash occurred in October 2010 and police found his speedometer stuck at 70pmh.
