Phoenix men defeat UW-Milwaukee to move on in Horizon League tournament
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Alec Brown scored 18 points, Keifer Sykes chipped in with 16 and Green Bay advanced to the second round of the Horizon League tournament with a 62-46 victory over Milwaukee on Tuesday night.
Jordan Fouse's lay-up with 11:15 remaining in the first half capped a 17-9 run for Green Bay (17-14) to begin the game. The Phoenix led 27-21 at halftime and put the game out of reach for Milwaukee with a 12-2 run to begin the second half.
Fouse finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Green Bay, which shot 33.9 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Panthers 47-35.
Milwaukee (8-24) shot a dismal 26.5 percent and was 5 of 24 from 3-point range. Paris Gulley led the Panthers with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Green Bay advances to play fifth-seeded Illinois-Chicago on Friday in Valparaiso, Ind. The Flames beat No. 8 Cleveland State 82-59 in their first round game Tuesday.
