Authorities search for missing three-year-old
MADISON - Sauk Prairie Police and the Wisconsin Department of Justice are trying to find a missing three-year-old boy who may be headed to Texas or outside the country.
Authorities describe Leonelly "Leo" Barron as 2' 7", 35 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. He has what's described as a "frohawk" haircut, with long, wavy hair on top and shaved hair on his sides.
According to a news release, Leo may be with his biological mother Maria Jose Mendieta, who is 20 years old.
She reportedly also goes by the name Maria Barron or Maria Rampa.
Authorities say they could be in Texas and may be heading to Mexico or Uruguay, and she would be violating a court-ordered custody deal.
According to the custody arrangement, Leo was reportedly given to his mother on Feb. 20, but he should have been returned to his father on Feb. 26.
Maria wears a tattoo of Charlie Brown and Snoopy, and also has a tattoo of a star on her right hand.
Leo and his biological mother may be traveling with Alejandro Martinez. Authorities say he lives in Mexico.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice says they may be using a 1998 navy Plymouth Grand Voyager with the license plate of 477-JJP.
