Communities preparing for winter storm while cleaning up from last week's storm

RACINE - Communities are still cleaning up from last week's storm. Racine and Kenosha are two of the areas hit hardest.
Crews in Racine and Kenosha counties are moving fast, after battling a storm last week. Monday, they made some last minute preparations, and now they are ready to go.
When you hear that sound, you know the snow is coming.
"Last week was practice,” said John Prijic. “This is the real deal."
Prijic and the folks at the Department of Public Works are gearing up for another go-round with Mother Nature.
Wratcheting, repairing, and scheduling before the snowfall strikes. Salt trucks, and drivers, are ready.
"Most people are scheduled to work a 16 or 16 ½ hour shift, then they'll get 8 hours off and come back," said Prijic.
One of the big issues for crews Tuesday will be the snow that's still here Monday.
"Eventually, if you don't push it back all the time, then you're going to end up with cars on both sides-and we can't get our equipment through," said Randy Neises, a plow truck operator.
And as the new snow falls, operators want drivers to give them room to clear the road.
"What I really wish we could get is support from the general public, and just get everything off of the road, that's the biggest thing," Neises said.
Snow emergencies will likely go into effect Tuesday morrow night, an public works crews aren't the only ones getting ready. Some schools are also being canceled.
