Saturday expected to retire as Colts player
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Jeff Saturday will retire from the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts.
There had been speculation from the moment Saturday said 2012 would be his final season in the league that the Colts would bring back their longtime center so he could retire with the team that brought him into the league. Team officials say Saturday will make the announcement Thursday at the Colts complex.
Saturday spent his first 13 seasons with the Colts before signing with Green Bay as a free agent last year. He and four-time MVP Peyton Manning and Saturday teamed up for an NFL record 170 starts for a quarterback-center duo during their time with the Colts.
Saturday also was a key player in finding a settlement to the NFL's lockout in 2011.
