MARYVALE, Ariz. - As the Brewers' spring training progresses, a number of the team's superstars won't be taking part in a big portion of it.

That's because guys like John Axford, Ryan Braun, Yovani Gallardo and Jonathan Lucroy have departed to represent their countries during the World Baseball Classic.

Braun and Lucroy will represent the United States, while Gallardo and Marco Estrada will pitch for Mexico, and Axford with Jim Henderson for the Canadian team.

Estrada admits that the Brewers roster has had some fun, good-natured trash talk between teammates who will be opponents in the worldwide competition.

"There's been a lot.  I didn't think it would get like this.  It's all fun and games.  We're getting into each other a little bit," said Estrada.

"Ax and Hendo are giving me a little bit, but I'm giving right back.  It's all fun."

The Brewers will take Monday off before resuming spring training action Tuesday against "Ax and Hendo."

Milwaukee will take on the Canadian team in an exhibition game, which will mean Axford and Henderson will go up against their own Brewers teammates.

Meanwhile on Sunday, the Brewers did something they hope to do often to the Chicago Cubs in the regular season: beat them.

Milwaukee took a 4-3 win over the Cubs.

Also, Aramis Ramirez has been diagnosed with a left knee sprain and could miss up to a week, manager Ron Roenicke tells the Journal Sentinel.
