MILWAUKEE - The sight of orange barrels is becoming part of our daily drive in and out of Milwaukee, with the I-43/94 bridge work and Zoo Interchange reconstruction projects underway.

Construction crews on I-94 will put more of them on our freeway, as they will begin a long-term closure of a lane of westbound I-94 after the expected snowstorm on Tuesday.

They'll close a westbound lane from 25th to 37th Streets.

"The department is adding an auxiliary lane.  It's going to be marked as an auxiliary lane, and exit-entrance lane," explained Kurt Fierl, a construction project manager.

When it's done, drivers can use three lanes of traffic and auxiliary lane.

That lane will reduce backups from traffic coming west from I-794 through the Marquette Interchange.

Crews are working fast to get as much work done before the Milwaukee Brewers' regular season begins, and traffic begins to increase.

They plan to be finished by May.
