MAUSTON, Wis. - A Milwaukee man who has spent more than half of his life behind bars after molesting a four-year-old boy is preparing to have his freedom back.

Milwaukee county judge Charles Kahn Junior is allowing 39 year old Shawn Schulpius to be released from Sand Ridge, a secure treatment center for sex offenders in Mauston, and in less than a month, he'll be moving back to Milwaukee.

Schulpius was just 17 years old when he was convicted as a sex offender.

Judge Kahn told Schulpius that this is not going to be easy, this is going to be a big change for you, and in many ways, he'll be under even greater restrictions than at Sand Ridge.

The supervised release plan Kahn approved will keep Schulpius under constant electronic surveillance.  He will be subject to scheduled and unannounced visits from a probation agent, polygraph tests, physical exams, continued counseling and training.
