NEW BERLIN - A 54-year-old Waukesha woman is hit and killed after stepping out of a disabled vehicle in Waukesha County Saturday morning.
It happened at about 5:30 a.m. on I-43 southbound in New Berlin near Racine Avenue.
The car was parked on the outside shoulder, but the woman was hit when she walked across the traffic lane.
The Waukesha Sheriff's department responded, and the southbound lanes were closed for about an hour.
