Mitchell Interchange ramp re-opened after crash with semi carrying chocolate
MILWAUKEE - A ramp in the Mitchell Interchange has closed after a crash in the snowy early morning hours of Wednesday.
It involved a semi carrying thousands of pounds of chocolate.
"At about 1:15 this morning, we had a semi that rolled over in the (I-43/894 east) to the (I-94) south ramp in the Mitchell Interchange on I-43," Milwaukee County Sheriff's spokeswoman Fran McLaughlin told TODAY'S TMJ4's "Live at Daybreak."
"The semi had about 47,000 pounds of liquid chocolate. The driver was trapped inside. We had deputies that were able to get him out of the semi."
She told us that the driver was cited for driving too fast.
The ramp re-opened at about 7:10 a.m.
Deputies have also responded to dozens of crashes and disabled vehicles.
