Homicide Charges Filed in Singer Murder

By Dan O'Donnell

The ex-husband of Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra choral singer Elisabeth Witte has been charged with first degree intentional homicide in her murder.

Elisabeth divorced Gerhard Witte in 2005, then filed a restraining order against him to protect herself.

Police reports indicate Gerhard made several threats, including that he would kill Elisabeth if she didn't return to live with him.

According to one police report, "when asked if he had any firearms, Witte stated he will not use a gun. Witte stated he is a medical doctor and he knows precisely where to cut someone, and gave an example of the abdomen."

Elisabeth was stabbed to death this weekend. Police found Gerhard standing over her body with a knife.
