Search for man who tried to abduct Racine County girl
RACINE - Extra officers are on patrol in one Racine County community after police say a man tried to abduct a 15-year-old girl.
Parents in Waterford are on edge Thursday morning after a report of an attempted abduction of a 15-year old girl.
Police say it happened Wednesday, in broad daylight, on Washington Street while the teen was walking home.
"In today's society I guess nothing really shocks me anymore,” said Scott Cegla, a Waterford parent.
The man allegedly got out of his car and grabbed the girl, but she broke free.
The teenager told police the suspect is a white man, about six feet tall, 200 pounds and has a brown scruffy beard. She says he was driving a late 90's model silver car similar to a Buick regal.
Police canvassed the neighborhood but didn't find the suspect, and now the search continues for that man,”
Racine County added sheriffs deputies to patrol all Waterford schools and nearby neighborhoods.
"It’s a scary world out there,” said Cegla. “I appreciate the extra police presence and I hope they find the guy."
The girl was not injured. If you have any information you are asked to call Racine County.
