Rescuers pull man out of Lake Michigan
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Fire Department says they have pulled a man from Lake Michigan near Lake Park.
The rescue happened before 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning near Lake Drive and Ravine Road.
Milwaukee Police said that the man was driving north on Lincoln Memorial Drive and drove off and into the rocks.
He then, according to police, walked into the water. At that point, Sheriff's deputies and police officers arrived and convinced him to get out of the water.
Initial reports from authorities said the person was unconscious, but breathing. A private ambulance transported him for medical care. Police say he went to Froedtert Hospital.
A sheriff's spokesperson told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Michelle Richards that the man tried to end his own life.
