Driver makes appearance at Admirals game
MILWAUKEE - Take your eyes off the ice at the Milwaukee Admirals game Friday night and you might just forget where you are.
Green and gold Packers fans filled the stands to see #80 on the ice.
"We love the Admirals, but we decided to come out because he's here," explained Santino Zizzo.
HE is the one and only Donald Driver. The newly retired Packers star dropped the ceremonial pick for the game.
The show of support even caught him by surprise. "To see all this, it's special," Driver explained. Though, he admits, it's a sport he likely won't pick up in his off time.
"I was in the locker room with the guys and you know, half of them don't have teeth in their mouth and you know I love my teeth," Driver said with a laugh.
Driver did show off his signature dance moves though before exiting the ice.
Fans tell us they came to see him not knowing if Driver will part ways with Wisconsin in retirement.
"We don't know if we'll see him that much longer. I mean hopefully he stays (involved) with the Green Bay Packers organization."
Driver was quick to tell reporters he'll always be involved in the community he's called home for more than a decade. "I' m not going anywhere. The crazy part is I'm leaving here and going to Green Bay!"
He'll dance in a charity event there for the Red Cross with his wife.
While he tells us he doesn't know what's next long term, for now it's pictures, posing and a lot of appearances in a new role as entertainer.
"Whatever comes I'm willing to follow. I've always said that because God's going to make a way for me."
Driver will appear as a guest on the weight loss edition of Extreme Makeover in a few weeks and will be back in Wisconsin for a celebrity softball tournament this summer.
