$4.19 Today, Fewer Driving on Memorial Day

By Jay Sorgi

Gasoline prices have reportedly hit another record high this morning.

Milwaukeegasprices.com says the MAAS Petro Mart at 5930 West Greenfield was charging $4.19/gallon, while it also states a PDQ on Hwy J in Hartland was charging the same amount.

Later on Thursday morning, MAAS reportedly charged $3.95/gallon.

The site also states the average unleaded gas price in the Milwaukee area is $3.96.

With constantly rising gas prices, it's possible that people traveling on Memorial Day weekend may find the roads a little less congested.

AAA projects that fewer travelers will take to the freeways to get out of town for this Memorial Day weekend.

That's the first time in 10 years they expect a decline in Memorial Day travel.

AAA Wisconsin Regional President Tom Frymark tells the Journal Sentinel that it's the pinch of record gas prices keeping people away from the big vacation.

AAA says area gas prices have gone up $.60 in the past year.

Still, many vacation spots in the state are still reporting solid bookings for the Memorial Day weekend.
