Murder suspect claims wife gave him AIDS
MILWAUKEE - The husband of a woman murdered last weekend was in court Thursday on charges of First-Degree Intentional Homicide, Use of a Dangerous Weapon and Misdemeanor Battery.
Keith Brooks, 28 of Milwaukee, was charged with the crimes after his wife, Anita, was found shot on Sunday in their apartment in the 3400 block of West Highland. According to Sergeant Mark Stanmeyer with Milwaukee Police, they believe the death was the result of domestic violence.
According to the prosecutor, Keith Brooks stated that "he had been arguing with his wife for the last few days, that they were fighting about her infidelity and how he believes she had given him AIDS."
He also said that he had hit her and she told him he should go to jail for it.
He then claims Anita Brooks took her gun and shot herself, and that he was unable to stop it. After an autopsy, the medical examiner said he believes that the death was not the result of a suicide.
