Authorities: Racine apartment complex fire is arson case
RACINE - Authorities in Racine say a night time apartment fire there is arson.
"We'd like to talk with anybody who knows how this fire was set," Racine Fire Department Lieutenant Craig Ford told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jodi Becker.
"I can't go into the details of the investigation, but I know there are people out there who know who set the fire, so we're anxious to talk to them."
He says they're quite sure someone intentionally set the fire at a 20-unit apartment building on Jacato Drive.
Angel Montelongo lives nearby and came out to see what was happening.
"I could see flames shooting from the apartment building, at least 15 to 20 feet high," explained Montelongo, who spoke with TODAY'S TMJ4.
Firefighters estimate damage at about $450,000.
