Thunder, lightning make appearance

MILWAUKEE - For the most part, roads are back to good condition.
The salt worked well in these temperatures and traffic is moving along nicely.
It was snowing pretty heavy as Rachel Kaufan drove to work Sunday afternoon. Then it turned to a combination of freezing rain and sleet.
When she ended her shift, Rachel walked out to find her car buried under ice.
"Honestly, it's Wisconsin," Kaufan says. "You just kinda have to be prepared for it."
What she and others were not prepared for in January was lightening.
"It definitely caught me off-guard, especially because there wasn't an actual thunderstorm," Kaufan says. "It was just really crazy."
From Menomonee Falls to West Bend and Sheboygan, the sights and sounds of a spring storm had people doing double takes.
"I was really confused," Ariel Ringe says. "I was like 'Okay, how did it go from snowing one second,' it was really heavy snowing too, 'to cracking thunder?' Only in Wisconsin would this happen. But, that's what makes us the best."
