Gov. Walker speaks to educators' convention in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE - Friday, Governor Walker spoke to many people who protested him since he's been governor.
The 92nd State Education Convention kicked off in Milwaukee, and many educators are against the governor's new laws limiting collective bargaining rights.
But today, the governor focused on giving school children plenty of opportunities.
"We talked about the importance of knowing where young children are when they come into our elementary schools, we put money behind reading screeners,” said Walker. “It was something the task force told Tony and I and others was important to know so there's funding behind it so it's not an unfunded mandate."
About 2,500 educators were at the convention on Friday.
