Report: Shawn Marcum heads to Mets
NEW YORK - A Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher is heading to New York to pitch with the New York Mets, according to a report.
CBS Sports reporter Jon Heyman says that Shawn Marcum, who pitched with the Brewers in 2011-12, has agreed to terms with the Mets for 2013, pending a physical.
Marcum went 20-11 with a 3.60 ERA during his time with the Brewers.
He helped Milwaukee reach the 2011 NL Central Division title on a staff with co-aces Yovani Gallardo and Zach Greinke, now a Los Angeles Dodger.
This leaves the Brewers with projected starters Gallardo, Marco Estrada, Mike Fiers, Wily Peralta and Mark Rogers.
