Medical examiner releases name, possible cause of death of man who fell from Hyatt balcony
On Jan. 20, around 12:30 a.m., a man died after falling from a balcony in the downtown Milwaukee Hyatt hotel on Kilbourn Avenue.
According to the medical examiner, Adam D. Busack, 26 of West Bend, fell around 120 feet.
According to Milwaukee County Medical Examiner Genevieve Penn, Busack was in Milwaukee to attend the Monster Truck show for his wife's birthday. The group of friends all began drinking around 4 p.m. on the 19th. After the show, they went to a bar where a man reportedly bought Busack's wife a drink, which upset Busack.
The group reportedly returned to the hotel and continued drinking, when an argument began between the men in the group. During the fight, Busack reportedly kicked in the bathroom door in the hotel room. The fight spilled out into the hallway, and witnesses saw Busack "punch or attempt to punch" one of his friends.
"They then noted two of the friends holding him down on the ground in an attempt to subdue him," said Penn. "One of the men went to the 11th floor to call security."
When the witnessed returned, they said they said Busack had settled down, but then saw him bending over and picking up some coins that had fallen out of his pockets. The witness said Busack had both hands on the railing and who had "precipitated himself off the railing landing 10 floors below," said Penn. The witnesses said no one was near him when this happened.
One of the friends in Busack's group said they were so intoxicated that night, they had a hard time remembering any details.
The ME is currently investigating the case as a possible suicide, but is waiting for the return of Busack's toxicology tests.
