West Milwaukee Police have arrested a man wanted for a deadly hit and run crash that killed a woman and her daughter on October 19th. Daniel P. Oswald has been charged with two counts of homicide by negligent use of a vehicle.
According to the criminal complaint, Oswald cut off a van driven by Susan Lee, 49, which caused it to collide with an oncoming tanker truck. Lee and her daughter Erica Jackson, 21, were killed. Two other people in the van were injured.
Oswald confessed to the accident to his ex-girlfriend in February, telling her that he "could not go away without saying goodbye."
The complaint cites a witness who claims Oswald told him that at the time of the crash "he had been drinking and had taken some oxycontin pills." Moreover, Oswald said that afterwards "he staged a second accident on another day which he said was caused by his dog so that he could cover up any evidence from the actual fatal accident."
Oswald faces up to 20 years in prison and $50,000 in fines if convicted.
