Aaron Allen, the man convicted of killing his 22-month-old son, was sentenced to 30 years in prison, "a total length of sentence of life in prison with credit for 438 days served."

The court also ordered that Allen is eligible for release to extended supervision after serving 30 years.

Police were called to an apartment in the 9000 block of N. 75th Street back on Oct. 10, 2011 around 4:30 a.m. for the report of an unresponsive baby, Aaron Allen, Jr. The baby’s father, Aaron D. Allen Sr., told them he found the baby unresponsive in another room. Police thought it was suspicious.

The medical examiner’s report showed the baby was suffocated. Allen later stated in court that he used a sock to strangle his son until the child's legs stopped kicking.
