Packs of planes depart for Bay Area with fans following Packers
GREEN BAY - Thousands of Green Bay Packers fans have taken flights from airports in Wisconsin to catch their team battle the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC divisional playoffs.
"Very pumped. Can't wait to go out there. We'll bring back a Packers victory, that's for sure.
"My wife and I decided Monday morning to pull the trigger," said Jeff, who is from Oak Creek.
"We were at the game Saturday, and in the stands, we were (saying), 'Let's go to San Francisco,' and we took it to heart."
One of them was Newsradio 620 WTMJ's "Follow the Packers" contest winner for the trip, Hardy Frey.
"My brother was heading down to Chicago and called me, heard my name, that Hardy from Oak Creek had won the tickets," said Frey to TODAY'S TMJ4's Melissa McCrady from Mitchell International Airport on "Live at Daybreak."
"(The phone) was ringing and ringing, and I didn't think they were going to pick up, and they said, 'Hello,' and I said, 'Hello...am I the 15th caller?' and they said yes, give me the three (Packers players) names.' I was really surprised."
