WAUKESHA - The TODAY'S TMJ4 Community Baby Shower is coming up this Friday.  It's our 10th anniversary.

Your donations will stay in your community and help more than a dozen agencies.

One of the organizations that will receive donations is Safe Babies Healthy Families of Waukesha.

It helps hundreds of families every year.

Most involve single moms, from backgrounds of abuse, neglect and poverty.

Nancy Major, the executive director, says the women they see are already from fragile backgrounds, so the organization is trying to help break the cycle.

A key to their success is a program called "earn to learn."

Major says it helps them learn about budgeting and teaches them they're doing something worthwhile, not just receiving a handout.

Families earn "baby bucks" for doing the right thing, such as taking parenting classes, going to the doctor, reading their child a book.

They can then spend those baby bucks in the "earn as you learn" store.

The wipes, diapers, and clothes are priced like they would be at any real store.

They're donated by events like our "Community Baby Shower."

Safe Babies Healthy Families says 99 percent of the moms they worked with last year gave birth to healthy babies.
