RACINE - Rescuers from a dozen different departments called in to search for a woman reported missing in Racine County.
With windchills at or below zero tonight, authorities called in the extra help to search for missing Annette Maki, 51, of the Town of Waterford.
"Being out in this temperature obviously, no body is going to last that long," said Lt. Steven Sikora of the Racine Co. Sheriff's Department.
The efforts focused on the Wadewitz Nature Preserve just outside of Waterford.
Family told authorities they believe Maki may be suicidal. She disappeared late Sunday afternoon.
Authorities focused their search on the wooded area monday afternoon after Maki's son found her car in an industrial park near Wadewitz.
"She tends to migrate to parks or nature trails when she's in this kind of condition."
Maki has reportedly attempted suicide before. Dozens of fire fighters, police and sheriff's deputies combed the area for her.
"They are going to search until they are satisfied they have done a good job."
After three hours on the ground, they came up empty handed. But authorities tell us the effort had to be made with the harsh weather.
"She may not be there. She may be someplace else. But we got to do this. We've got to eliminate this possibility," said Sikora.
They called off the search around 6 p.m. Monday. Maki had not yet been found.
It is unknown whether or not they will resume tomorrow.
