Chicago area police seek drunk drivers New Year's Eve
CHICAGO, Ill. - A warning to anyone planning a New Year's Eve in Chicago. If you're not prepared to stay overnight, don't overdo the alcohol. Law enforcement agencies in Illinois plan to set up check points, looking for drunk drivers, as well as for those who aren't wearing a seat belt.
It's called the "Drive to Survive" push and nearly 300 agencies statewide are participating.
The Illinois Department of Transportation reports 42 people were killed on New Year's holidays in the last five years and 40 percent of those fatal accidents involved alcohol.
