37th wrong way driver in Milwaukee County causes serious crash
MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department has arrested a 35-year-old man from Milwaukee for causing a serious wrong way driving crash overnight. Authorities think he was drunk at the time.
The Sheriff's Department says the man was driving the north in the southbound lanes of Highway 145 from at least Silver Spring. That driver smashed into an oncoming car on the 145 split off highway 41/45 near the Waukesha County line.
A 51-year-old man driving the car was seriously hurt, but is expected to live. Two women, 36 and 39, were also hurt.
The Sheriff's Department says the suspected drunk driver ran away from the scene on foot. He was caught running along Highway 41/45 some distance from the scene.
That driver is now facing up to 12 and a half years in prison for a felony OWI charge.
