Packers make move at center
GREEN BAY - Jeff Saturday was voted by the fans as the number one center on the NFC Pro Bowl ballet.
The Packers coaching staff may not feel he's the best center in the locker room.
On Friday, Mike McCarthy hinted at, and Saturday confirmed, the center has been benched ahead of Sunday's match-up with Tennessee.
Evan Dietrich-Smith will take Saturday's place in front of Aaron Rodgers.
Saturday said he's disappointed, but at age 37 recognized he's a stop-gap at the position.
"I told Dietrich I fully support him," Saturday said. "I have total respect for him as a player and as an athlete and I think he'll do a good job."
"Me and Jeff have a great relationship since he's been here," said Dietrich-Smith. "And we've been on the same page since day one. We just want success for the team."
"I told him make the most of [the opportunity]", said Saturday. "We all get our chance somehow and whenever we do, take advantage of it. When I got my chance, I made the most of mine. I hope he does the same."
Saturday said he doesn't expect the Packers to make an additional move if EDS plays well.
