BEAVER DAM - The combination of heavy snow and fast-whipping winds caused most people to simply not brave the conditions and take to the roads in Dodge County.

The manager at the Quik Trip on Highway 151 spent the early morning shoveling snow to keep her location open.

Roads around that area have been nearly empty, as people were choosing not to travel.

Winds were brutal, "screaming in my face," as TODAY'S TMJ4's Nick Montes put it on "Live At Daybreak."

Later, Montes observed two inches of fresh powder falling during the 6:00 a.m. hour.

Snow was flying sideways due to heavy winds.

People who have been filling up have come prepared with ice scrapers and other cold-weather car needs.

"Main roads, not too bad, snowy.  Anything off the main roads, I'd stay home," said one driver to Montes.

As the day went along, winds picked up and struck people in the face while they were walking.

Snow covered the gas prices sign at the Quik Trip around 11:00 a.m.

One man had trouble plowing, because of the thickness of the snow.

"The worst part is in the driveway, where they plowed, because (the snow) caked.  You have to keeping going back and forth," said the man to Montes.
