GREEN BAY - Sometimes, trial by fire in the NFL breeds getting burned.  Sometimes, it breeds success.

According to Newsradio 620 WTMJ Packers color commentator and TODAY'S TMJ4/NBC26 reporter Larry McCarren, trial by fire has led to success so far for rookie Don Barclay.

"Barclay has held up at right tackle," said McCarren, a former Packers offensive lineman.

"He's grown some every week.  Now he's got three games where he's played most of the time under his belt.  He's taking steps in the right direction."

According to McCarren, Barclay has kept cool in the heat of NFL battle after his college career at West Virginia.

He even faced one of the best pass rushers in recent years, Julius Peppers, and for the most part, Barclay held his own.

"It's clear the situation, the game, is not too big for him.  He had snaps against the (Chicago Bears') Julius Peppers and he didn't go to mush."
